In September we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Villadossola plant. Founded in 1922 as a central production site for calcium carbide, precursor of acetylene, the chemical site has undergone several transformations over the years. Passing from ownership to ownership, it has been equipped with infrastructures, power plants for steam production and energy distribution, workshops and control laboratories. From Rayon acetate to chloroform, the plant has enhanced various activities, up to transforming vinyl acetate into polymers and polyvinyl alcohol. With the polymerization of vinyl acetate in a bath of water and alcohol, the experimental production of polyvinyl acetate began. Year 1942, a historic date: the "white glue" was born, which 10 years later will take the name of VINAVIL UNIVERSAL ADHESIVE. Not everyone knows that VINAVIL means “VINilics At VILladossola”. For this important birthday, on Saturday 9 September the plant will welcome the public for a guided tour of 1 hour and a half, offering everyone the opportunity to visit a historic place that blends the ancient aspect with the modernity of the current facilities. The night before, to make the occasion even more special, customers and authorities will enjoy a concert sponsored by Vinavil as part of the Stresa Festival.
